Resumen
El mundo está lleno de horror, dolor y rabia. En los últimos 34 días hemos sido testigos de matanzas masivas de civiles y de numerosas violaciones del derecho internacional. Los ataques del 7 de octubre liderados por Hamas contra Israel resultaron en la muerte de 1.400 israelíes.[1] Desde entonces, más de 10,818 palestinos han sido asesinados en Gaza y 175 han sido asesinados por las fuerzas israelíes en Cisjordania.[2] Estos acontecimientos ocurrieron en el contexto de décadas de ocupación de los territorios palestinos.[3] Es necesario detener esta escalada de odio y violencia. Podemos y debemos hacer mejores esfuerzos para defender los derechos humanos, la salud y el bienestar mediante acciones coordinadas e inmediatas [3,4].
El llamado de atención del movimiento mundial por la salud es actuar por la humanidad, sin importar fronteras o identidades.[5] Como profesionales de la salud global, luchamos por la salud, el florecimiento humano, la equidad, la paz, la justicia y el fin del colonialismo en todas sus manifestaciones. También condenamos inequívocamente la violencia contra los pueblos originarios a nivel mundial.[6]
